THAT’S HIS NAME, DON’T WEAR IT OUT!

THAT’S HIS NAME, DON’T WEAR IT OUT!

We are VERY excited to announce that PAUL REUBENS will be joining us for his FIRST EVER MONSTER-MANIA appearance at MONSTER-MANIA CON 39 the weekend of MARCH 9-11th in Cherry Hill, NJ!

PAUL has been one of our most requested guests and we listen to our fans! PAUL is an actor, writer, comedian and film producer who is widely recognized for his character PEE-WEE HERMAN. In 1980 PAUL developed THE PEE-WEE HERMAN SHOW that initially debuted as a midnight show at the popular Groundlings theatre in Los Angeles and later at L.A.’s Roxy Theatre. HBO’s television special of the production helped launched PEE-WEE into stardom.

In 1985, a then unknown director named Tim Burton filmed the very popular PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE, taking the film world by storm. The next year CBS launched the Saturday morning children’s program PEE-WEE’S PLAYHOUSE. The show ran from 1986-1990 and was once again widely popular with fans. In 2010 PAUL rebooted THE PEE-WEE HERMAN SHOW and took it to Broadway. The highly acclaimed production was once again filmed for an HBO special. In 2016 Paul and co-producer Judd Apatow brought a brand new Pee-wee film to Netflix, PEE-WEE’S BIG HOLIDAY.

Of course, PAUL has also starred in a vast number of other projects as well. MONSTER-MANIA fans will surely recognize PAUL for his role as AMILYN in 1992’s comedy horror film BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER.

Comic book fans will know PAUL for his role as ELIJAH VAN DAHL, the Penguin’s father in the popular GOTHAM series, a role he also played in Tim Burton’s BATMAN RETURNS. Some of Paul’s other projects include THE BLUES BROTHERS, CHEECH AND CHONG’S NEXT MOVIE and NICE DREAMS, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, MATILDA, PUSHING DAISIES, THE BLACKLIST, BLOW and many, many more!

Please join us in welcoming PAUL REUBENS to his FIRST MM appearance with us at MONSTER-MANIA CON 39 in Cherry Hill, NJ!

NJ – Bingo Love Presentation

Tee Franklin, the creator and writer of Bingo Love, appears at the Summit Free Public Library on Tuesday, February 13th at 12:30 PM to speak with teens about her new book. Click here to register…

ABOUT THE BOOK: When Hazel Johnson and Mari McCray met at church bingo in 1963, it was love at first sight. Forced apart by their families and society, Hazel and Mari both married young men and had families. Decades later, now in their mid-’60s, Hazel and Mari reunite again at a church bingo hall. Realizing their love for each other is still alive, what these grandmothers do next takes absolute strength and courage.

From TEE FRANKLIN (NAILBITER’s “THE OUTFIT,” Love is Love) and JENN ST-ONGE (Jem & The Misfits), BINGO LOVE is a touching story of love, family, and resiliency that spans over 60 years.

NJ – Hermes: Tales of the Trickster Signing

Author George O’Connor appears at WORD on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM for an afternoon of graphic novels and Greek history with HERMES: TALES OF THE TRICKSTER.

In volume ten of Olympians, George O’Connor delves into the myth of Hermes, the trickster god. From his infancy, when he bewitches animals and bends them to his will (stealing a herd of Apollo’s prize cattle in the bargain), to his adolescence and adulthood when he becomes father to the equally mischievous Pan, Hermes’s story is wildly entertaining as he brings a little bit of chaos to everything he touches or creates.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
George O’Connor is a New York Times bestselling author and illustrator of the Olympians series as well as such graphic novels as Journey into Mohawk Country and Ball Peen Hammer. In addition to his graphic novel career, Mr. O’Connor has published several children’s picture books.

NJ – MINE! Signing

Press Release:

East Side Mags is a proud community sponsor and we’re super happy to support Planned Parenthood – a rad organization that provides much needed medical attention to the communities that they serve!

A ton of creators (some we know, some we hope to meet soon) have come together and put an anthology together called Mine! in support of Planned Parenthood with profits going to support the organization. We were quick to jump on the Kickstarter when we saw it and now we’re buying additional copies so we can bring you a handful of the amazing minds that contributed to this much-required reading material!

Hang out with Dave Kelly (Tales of the Night Watchman, So What? Press), Matt Miner (Gwar Orgasmageddon, Toe Tag Riot), Liana Kangas (Independent comic artist), Fabian Lelay (Jade Street Protection Services), and Jude Vigants (Tales of the Night Watchman).

Join us from 1pm-6pm on Saturday, January 27th! Writers and artists will be signing copies of the book that we’ll have for sale and artists will be sketching for customers too! Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind, East Side Mags event!
