Nerdcore rapper Mega Ran brings his Total Destruction Tour to Star Clipper on Wednesday, March 5.

Emcee Random began his transformation into his alter-ego Mega Ran, an ode to the classic video game character Mega Man, after creating a tribute album and receiving an unprecedented level of support and blessing from video game company Capcom to continue. Ran was reborn and became a trailblazer in the budding “nerdcore” and chiptune subgenres, while coining his own term to describe his sound as “Chip-Hop.”

Mega Ran will be accompanied by tourmates; Brental Floss and Danimal Cannon. Local rapper Dr. Dan The Pancake Man will return to Star Clipper to open the show and make pop culture inspired pancakes for the crowd.

Sylvester McCoy Appears at Planet Comicon 2014

Planet Comicon welcomes actor Sylvester McCoy to their 2014 convention for all three days!

From Doctor Who and The Hobbit, Sylvester McCoy combines fan appeal across a wide spectrum. Perhaps best known as the seventh Doctor, McCoy appeared on Doctor Who from 1987 through 1989 and then returned to the role for the 1996 Doctor Who TV movie. He’s now featured prominently as Radagast the Brown in Peter Jackson’s film adaptations of the The Hobbit. McCoy has appeared in numerous film, television, and stage roles. This is Sylvester McCoy’s first Planet Comicon appearance.

The Hero Initiative is the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterday’s creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. It’s a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.
