MO – The Oracle Year Signing

Left Bank Books and Archon present an SF STL event with comic book writer Charles Soule (Daredevil, She-Hulk, Curse Words, Poe Dameron) on Tuesday, May 8th at 7:00 PM to sign and discuss his debut novel, The Oracle Year!

This event is free and open to the public, but proof of purchase of “The Oracle Year” from Left Bank Books will be required to enter the signing line.

Knowledge is power. So when an unassuming Manhattan bassist named Will Dando awakens from a dream one morning with 108 predictions about the future in his head, he rapidly finds himself the most powerful man in the world. With only a handful of people he can trust—including a beautiful journalist—it’s all Will can do to simply survive, elude exposure, and protect those he loves long enough to use his knowledge to save the world. Delivering fast-paced adventure on a global scale as well as sharp-witted satire on our concepts of power and faith, Marvel writer Charles Soule’s audacious debut novel takes readers on a rollicking ride where it’s impossible to predict what will happen next.

MO – All Summer Long/Be Prepared Signing

Comic creators Vera Brosgol and Hope Larson appear at The Novel Neighbor on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 5:00 PM to speak in conversation about their upcoming summer-themed books.

“Be Prepared” (Brosgol): All Vera wants to do is fit in―but that’s not easy for a Russian girl in the suburbs. Her friends live in fancy houses and their parents can afford to send them to the best summer camps. Vera’s single mother can’t afford that sort of luxury, but there’s one summer camp in her price range―Russian summer camp. Vera is sure she’s found the one place she can fit in, but camp is far from what she imagined. And nothing could prepare her for all the “cool girl” drama, endless Russian history lessons, and outhouses straight out of nightmares!

“All Summer Long” (Larson): Thirteen-year-old Bina has a long summer ahead of her. She and her best friend, Austin, usually do everything together, but he’s off to soccer camp for a month, and he’s been acting kind of weird lately anyway. So it’s up to Bina to see how much fun she can have on her own. At first it’s a lot of guitar playing, boredom, and bad TV, but things look up when she finds an unlikely companion in Austin’s older sister, who enjoys music just as much as Bina. But then Austin comes home from camp, and he’s acting even weirder than when he left. How Bina and Austin rise above their growing pains and reestablish their friendship and respect for their differences makes for a touching and funny coming-of-age story.

Books for signing will be available for purchase at event.

*Due to time constraints, only books purchased through The Novel Neighbor, either at event or by pre-order, are eligible for signing line.

Steenz, artist on the new original graphic novel Archival Quality from Oni Press, signs at Left Bank Books on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM!

After losing her job at the library, Celeste Walden starts working at the haunting Logan Museum as an archivist. But the job may not be the second chance she was hoping for, and she finds herself confronting her mental health, her relationships, and before long, her grasp on reality as she begins to dream of a young woman she’s never met, but feels strangely drawn to. Especially after she asks Cel for help– As Cel attempts to learn more about the woman, she begins losing time, misplacing things, passing out-the job is becoming dangerous, but she can’t let go of this mysterious woman. Who is she? Why is she so fixated on Cel? And does Cel have the power to save her when she’s still trying to save herself? Written by Ivy Noelle Weir and art by Steenz.
