Time to bring your festive cheer! It’s that time of year, the comickers favourite celebration – Free Comic Book Day. On Saturday, May 7th, we will be open from 10.00-9pm (yes, that’s 30 minutes earlier than normal opening hours). We will be hosting various events and signings throughout the day.

Kids Workshop – 11-2pm

Acclaimed American author Craig Thompson appears in conversation with comics authority Paul Gravett at The British Library on Monday 21 March 2016 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM!

Thompson is best known for his much loved and award-winning graphic novels – the autobiographical breakthrough Blankets and his powerful Islamic fairytale Habibi.

He has followed these with Space Dumplins, a masterwork for all ages which combines breathtaking imagination, poignant family drama and sharp ecological awareness. In the tradition of plucky heroines like Alice, and her astonishing adventures, his new character Violet is on an intergalactic quest to save her father in a bizarre polluted future.

This is Craig Thompson’s exclusive London speaking appearance – in conversation with with Paul Gravett, author of Comics Art and co-author of Comics Unmasked: Art and Anarchy in the UK.

The event will be followed by a book signing.

Together with Emma Beeby, he’s also written The Doomsday Quatrain and sections of 1001 Nights for Big Finish Productions.

Gosh! Comics hosts the launch party for the new series by Isabel & Imogen Greenberg, ‘Discover!’ with the first two titles ‘The Roman Empire’ and ‘The Ancient Egyptians’. The launch will be Friday, April 8th from 7-9pm.

A new series from sisters Isabel & Imogen Greenberg, each book in the series covers key historical periods. The first title in the Discover! series takes a look at Ancient Egypt! The book takes in pyramids , mummies, hieroglyphs and provides comprehensive a timeline of the period. The second title that we will be launching on the night is Discover The Roman Empire. Within this volume you’ll find gladiators, architectural feats and the might of the imperial Roman army, all rendered by Isabel Greenberg’s unmistakeable line. This new series is a great way for children to engage with these historical topics in an engaging and fun way.

Isabel Greenberg is well-known to the London comics community. She debuted her graphic novel The Encyclopaedia of Early Earth in early 2013 to critical acclaim. She’s also worked with publishers such as Nobrow, Seven Stories Press, and First Second. Her sister Imogen Greenberg is a freelance journalist writing on arts, culture and heritage in London. This is her first book.
