Flame Con 2019 is excited to announce special guests Ed Luce, Jay Edidin, Miles Stokes, and Luciano Vecchio will appear on August 17-18th at the Sheraton Times Square.
X-Perts Jay Edidin and Miles Stokes have spent the last five years detangling the text and subtext of comics’ greatest superhero soap opera–and they’re still going strong. Now one of the largest independent podcasts in circulation, Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men is a walking tour through the X-Men’s convoluted retcons, clones, and time-traveling clones–along with critical perspectives, cultural context, and creator interviews.
Ed Luce is the San Francisco-based creator of Wuvable Oaf, a two-time Ignatz nominated series of comics and winner of the 2016 Lambda Literary Award for LGBT Graphic Novel. The first seven years of Oaf comics have been collected into two volumes by Fantagraphics Books. Ed has also created covers, comics and illustrations for VICE, Image Comics, Heavy Metal Magazine, Slate, Oni Press, IDW, Dark Horse, Decibel Magazine, the Eisner-nominated No Straight Lines anthology and the Eisner-winning Love Is Love anthology.
Luciano Vecchio is an Argentinian queer comic book artist, currently working on Marvel Comics’ IRONHEART. Previous works include Batman & Harley Queen, Guardians of the Galaxy Infinite Comics, while locally writing and drawing queer-lead creator owned series Sereno and coordinating Secuencia Disidente, a digital anthology of Argentinian LGBT+ comic creators.
Previously announced guests include Kris Anka, Terry Blas, Magdalene Visaggio, Tana Ford, Vita Ayala, Steve Orlando, Steenz, Jen Bartel, Crystal Frasier, Melanie Gillman, D.J. Kirkland, Josh Trujillo, Dana Simpson, and Wendy Xu.
