Spider-Man: Far From Home opens with Peter Parker and his classmates dealing with the fallout of Infinity War and Endgame. As Peter tries to come to terms with a world that has progressed for five years without him and the death of Iron Man, a nice trip to Europe sounds like a great chance to clear his head, re-connect with friends, and make a move on MJ. Unfortunately, Nick Fury has other plans for the webslinger.
Overall, this is a fun endcap to Marvel’s Phase Three. It’s got lots of exciting action, funny jokes, and plenty of Easter eggs for the observant fan. There are some big plot points for the future and a few very unexpected cameos, including one of the MCU’s earliest characters.
The one quibble is that a large part of the plot hinges on a twist. If you’re on this website you almost definitely already know what it is. While the story is still engaging, it demonstrates that the movies are made for a general audience with little to no knowledge of the source material. For a longtime fan it’s frustrating.
Don’t forget to stay till the very end.
