In celebration of our 20th anniversary, Planet Comicon Kansas City has created an exciting lineup of after hours events, both at the Convention Center and at venues nearby. Events are free and included in your Planet admissions unless otherwise noted.

THURSDAY, MARCH 28

Ultimate Geek Trivia Showdown Vol. 3

Location: No Other Pub in KC Power and Light District
Registration: 6:30pm
Contest: 7:30pm-10:30pm
Details: Bring your smartest and geekiest friends and win fabulous prizes and random swag! Cash, Yes! Passes to Planet, Yes! Pure nerdy glory in 8 rounds of trivia ranging from comics to the the cinematic-television-gaming universe. All fandoms are fair game. Space is limited, so be sure to register your team faster than the Flash!
Entry Fee: $15/person. Enter a team of 6 at one time for the discounted price of $80.
Your registration includes one complimentary adult beverage and access to the Pub Grub buffet. Must be 21 to participate.

Drink and Draw
Location: Pawn and Pint [free admission]
Time: 8:00pm-11:00pm
Details: Want to see some of the incredibly talented artists from Planet Comicon KC up close Join us for a Drink n’ Draw Party on Thursday at 8pm for a night of drawing, drink and food specials. Receive unique promo items and enjoy the fun with your hosts, The Elite Comics Flight Crew, Planet Comicon KC Team, Boulevard Beer and the amazing talent of Artists Alley! You can even request your own drawing. Proceeds from the evening benefit the Hero Initiative to help artists in need. Must be accompanied by parent or guardian if under 21.

Details: Planet Comicon is proud to introduce our inaugural Film Fest focusing on students and people in the Kansas City area. Be among the first to view a variety of shorts produced for our show.

Rocky Horror Picture Show – Shadow Cast
Location: Room 2501 AB @ KC Convention Center [Free with PCKC credential]
Time: 8:00pm-9:45pm
Details: Come do the time warp as we screen one of pop culture’s most classic films. Sing along and boogie with fellow Rocky Horrror fans or if youv’e never seen it before come and see what all the fuss has been about in this free Planet Comicon event.

Stand up Nerds Comedy Showcase
Location: Room 2505A @ KC Convention Center [Free with PCKC credential]
Time: 7:30pm-9:00pm
Details: Lisa Corrao is a stand-up comedian who travels the country performing at comic cons and opening for Patton Oswalt, Jim Norton, and many more. You’ve also seen her on Nickelodeon playing a witch on Every Witch Way and in over 100 commercials. She needs this time to vent to you about cosplay, her love of the Hulk, and her obsession with space. Come check out this special stand-up show starring Lisa and perhaps even a few special guests, but please be advised that this show is not recommended for children.

Planet Pub Sing & Bawdy Ball
Location: The Historic Muehlebach Lobby [ticketed event]

Details: Calling all Pirates,Wenches,Wizards and common folk. Featuring Little Beard and The Scally Wags Pirate Comedy Show! Other acts include: Fishbones and Scurvy, Clearly Guilty, Soulfire and more! $5 Cash only at the door. Adult comedy, 18 and over.

Nerdioke
Location: Hotel Karaoke in the Power and Light District; 1300 Grand Blvd.
Time: 8pm-11pm
Details: Open to anyone that checks in with their PCKC credentials! 1/2 off all tabs and unlimited karaoke in main showroom.

Spectrum Figure-Drawing Party
Location: Hotel Phillips, Mezzanine, 106 W. 12th St. [Free with PCKC credential]
Time: 10pm-1:00am
Details: Artists grab your pencils and sketchpads (or tablets) and join Spectrum Fantastic Art and the Illustration Academy for an after-hours figure drawing party at the Hotel Phillips.
Open to all adult (18 and over) members of Planet Comicon wanting to relax and practice their drawing skills; live models will be posing throughout the evening and free hors d’oeuvres (while they last) and a cash bar will be available on the hotel mezzanine adjacent to the drawing room.

Spectrum 26 Awards Ceremony
Location: Folly Theater [free admission]
Time: 7pm-9pm
Details: Join us for a special night as we recognize and celebrate the best in the fantastic arts. Special guest Magician Derek Hughes will be the entertainer for the evening. Planet fans may know him from his appearances in Captain America: Winter Soldier and the “Uprising” episode of Agents of Shield. The gala will be held at the historic Folly Theatre, adjacent to the Kansas City Convention Center and will be open to all PCKC exhibitors, creators, guests and attendees.

Planet Comicon Kansas City Cosplay Costume Contest
Location: Room 2501AB [free with PCKC credential]
Time: 7:30-9:30pm
Details: One of the most spectacular components of Planet each year. You won’t want to miss this dazzling display of artistry and showmanship. Makers of all experience levels compete to be crowned as a Champion of Planet! International cosplay superstar, Kamui Cosplay will be a special guest judge. Grab your seats early, you won’t want to miss a single minute.

Planet LIVE Dance Party and Pub Crawl
Free with PCKC credential + online companion ticket or $35 Pub Crawl upgrade »
Location: KC Live Block
Time: 8pm-Midnight
Details: Dance until you drop on the last night of Planet created just for our fans. Your Planet wristband or badge gets you into the KC Live Block free of charge (This is a 21 and over event). Specialty themed drink and food specials throughout the district. Come as you are, and ready to have fun. Costumes are always welcome and invited to participate in the Masquerade Parade. Must be 21 to participate in this event.

Masquerade Parade! This year the Masquerade parade will unfold during the party! Sign ups for the masquerade parade begin at 9:15pm and the parade starts at 10:00. The first 75 to sign up get to strut their stuff across the Live Block Stage and show their cosplays to an adoring crowd! There are no judges, but this one is always fun!

It’s a fundraiser! Donations to the Hero Initiative are being solicited all night long to help struggling comic book artists! Read more about this wonderful charity here.
