Join Strand Book Store at Symphony Space on Thursday July 13th at 8:30PM as lauded comedian and TV show host Trevor Noah talks with publishing phenom Chris Jackson about Noah’s book, Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood.
Trevor Noah has taken the world by storm with his incendiary wit and politically charged satire, stemming from his comedy career in South Africa. He has observed tremendous success in the industry, having hosted multiple stand-up and comedy specials worldwide. After becoming the successor of The Daily Show in 2015, he chronicled tales of his life growing up in South Africa during the death throes of apartheid and the ensuing aftermath in his biography. The book documents the harrowing struggles of Noah’s early life growing up in poverty, as well as some quirky and frightening anecdotes from his adolescence and young adulthood. The words within are rife with Noah’s particular brand of humor, making the storytelling at once arresting and at the same time, hilarious.
Chris Jackson is editor-in-chief of One World Publishing, a subsidiary of Random House. Chris is credited with revitalizing the diversity focused One World Imprint, which aims to proliferate, examine, and celebrate multicultural works of literature in order to enrich our society.
