Press Release:

Tyrus Wong, who recently passed away at the age of 106, was a prolific and multi-talented artist – a painter, designer, lithographer, muralist, and kitemaker. Tyrus worked for many years in Hollywood as a film production illustrator, first for The Walt Disney Studios under Walt’s direction, and later for the Warner Brothers Studio. He is well-known for his key role as the lead artist on Disney’s 1942 classic, Bambi. Tyrus was named a Disney Legend in 2001, and is the subject of Pamela Tom’s 2015 award-winning documentary, Tyrus. The Walt Disney Family Museum celebrated Tyrus in the 2013 exhibition Water to Paper, Paint to Sky: The Art of Tyrus Wong – one of the largest retrospectives of his work.

In honor of Tyrus’ inspiring life and compelling body of work, join the Walt Disney Family Museum on Thursday May 18th at 3:00 PM to hear from Oscar®-nominated Pixar writer and director Ronnie del Carmen, filmmaker Pamela Tom, and Tyrus’ daughter, Kim Wong, as they reflect on the life and work of a creative genius. Tickets available at the link…

Presented in association with the Presidio Trust.
