Illustrator, author, and publisher Leanne Shapton returns to 192 Books to launch the new Drawn & Quarterly edition of her modern classic Was She Pretty? A work of unsurpassed originality, Was She Pretty? brings the reader deep into a circle of phantom exes, complete with intimate liaisons, embarrassing secrets, and sardonic anecdotes. Shapton is the author of six books, including the art books Native Trees of Canada and Sunday Night Movies and the auction catalog Important Artifacts and Personal Property from the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion, and Jewelry. She won the 2012 National Book Critic’s Circle Award for her memoir Swimming Studies and most recently, she co-authored 2014’s Women in Clothes alongside Sheila Heti and Heidi Julavits.
