Archie Comics’ Dan Parent Comes to Boston Comic Con 2014

Archie Comics writer and artist DAN PARENT makes his first appearance at Boston Comic Con for this year’s show!  A graduate of the Kubert School, Dan began working for Archie immediately after graduation. One of the most popular and prolific creators on the Archie roster, Dan is best known for creating the Riverdale gang’s first openly gay character, Kevin Keller. He has also worked on notable storylines including Archie’s first interracial romance with Valerie (of the Pussycats), and guest appearances by Barack Obama, KISS, George Takei, and the cast of Glee.

Previously announced guests include Jason Momoa, Jewel Staite, James Marsters, Eve Myles, Simon Bisley, Amanda Conner, Adam Kubert, Jeff Smith, Danielle Corsetto, Carlos Pacheco, Jimmy Palmiotti, Eric Powell, Gail Simone, Stan Sakai, and many more!

BIG WOW! ComicFest is pleased to announce that Jessica Nigri will be attending the 2014 convention. Jessica Nigri is a world renowned cosplayer, model, entrepreneur, shapeshifter, and gamer. Jessica has been cosplaying since 2009, creating and modeling various costumes from various video games and anime.

Jessica Nigri studied with the inner circle of the seven dragons to fine tune her skills of Draconian lore and mastered the art of the Serpentine fire dance.

After winning IGN’s contest to be the model for Lollipop Chainsaw as Juliet Starling, she went on to study with World renowned chef Pablo Escobanza where she learned how to make the worlds greatest tacos. She now spends her time creating costumes and travelling to conventions throughout the galaxy. Her ship of choice? The Serenity of course!

NEAL ADAMS TO ATTEND STEEL CITY CON

Pittsburgh — Orangestone Promotions, Inc., promoters of the Pittsburgh based convention called the Steel City Con (http://www.steelcitycon.com) is celebrating 25 years as Pennsylvania’s largest toy, comic book and pop culture show on April 11-13, 2014 at the Monroeville Convention Center with special appearances from classic TV and movie celebrity guests.  The Steel City Con is known for bringing rare celebrity signing appearances and photo opportunities into the Pittsburgh market.

Steel City Con attendees will be excited to know that a major talent in the comic book industry will be attending the upcoming Steel City Con. Neal Adams is a comic book and commercial artist known for helping to create some of the definitive modern imagery of the DC Comics characters Superman, Batman and Green Arrow.  As the co-founder of the graphic design studio Continuity Associates, and as creators-rights advocate who helped secure a pension and recognition for Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Jore Shuster. Adams was inducted into the Eisner Award’s, Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame and the Harvey Awards and Jack Kirby Hall of Fame. In addition to Neal Adams’ appearance fan will also have a chance to meet celebrity guests like Lee Majors. Mr. Majors will be headlining the upcoming show.   Lee Majors is best known for his roles as “Heath Barkley” in the TV series The Big Valley and as “Colonel Steve Austin” in The Six Million Dollar Man. Majors will be autographing photos and items for fans as well as providing photo opportunities.  Fans will be especially excited to participate in a Celebrity Q & A sessions and have a chance to ask Lee Majors and other celebrities attending the show questions of their careers. Joining Mr. Majors will be Cindy Williams (“Shirley” from Laverne & Shirley); Brent Spiner (“Data” from Star Trek: The Next Generation); Lou Ferrigno (TV and film actor from roles in the TV series King of Queens and especially The Incredible Hulk); Dermot Crowley (“General Madine” from Star Wars); Femi Taylor (“Jabba the Hutt’s slave dancer Oola” from Star Wars); Parker Stevenson (TV and film actor known for his roles in Baywatch and The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries); Mackenzie Lintz (“Norrie” from Under The Dome and the “Tribute Girl District 8” from the Hunger Games). Bruno Sammartino and George “The Animal” Steele  (WWE Legendary Hall of fame wrestlers). Many more guests to be added.

Attendees can also expect to participate in many planned activities. An official costume contest, celebrity Q & A sessions, panels, charity auctions and official sanction tournament gaming.  Get your picture taken with your favorite Star Wars characters with special participation from the official Star Wars costuming organization. Anime Boston is proud two announce two Japanese Guests of Honor today: Screenwriter Dai Sato and seiyuu Yuu Asagawa!

Dai Sato started his career as a TV script writer/program planner and a lyricist at the age of 19, and later ventured into the video game and music industries. Today, he is first and foremost an animation scriptwriter, with side projects creating scripts and concepts for various media. In 2007 he created Storyriders Inc., Ltd. of which he is the president and CEO.

As scriptwriter, his credits include Eternal Family, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell -Stand Alone Complex,  Eternal Family, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell  -Eureka Seven, Ergo Proxy, Freedom, Eden of the East, and Space?Dandy

Yuu Asakawa is a Japanese seiyuu (or voice actress). Yuu is the voice of Crypton Future Media’s Vocaloid, Megurine Luka, providing all her vocal samples. Yuu is also the co-host of the Internet web show Otaku Verse Zero, alongside Otaku USA editor-in-chief Patrick Macias.

A talented veteran voice actress, Yuu has been performing for over seventeen years for some of the most popular anime and video games. Among her many roles in anime are Motoko Aoyama from Love Hina, Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh, Rider from Fate/stay night, Yuuki Mitani from Hikaru no Go, and Jura Basil Elden from Vandread. Yuu’s video games roles include Lebreau from the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, Eime in Baten Kaitos, Nel Zelpher in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, and various characters for the Super Robot Wars franchise of games.
