Acclaimed British illustrator James Jarvis unveils his first new narrative in five years – at Forbidden Planet. He will be at the Forbidden Planet London Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Thursday 12th January.
Renowned for his fantastic range of ‘In Crowd’ figures, James Jarvis is widely regarded as the father of 3D urban vinyl in the UK. Artist and designer, working closely with clothes companies as well as toys manufacturers, he professes an obsessive admiration for the works of Hergé and Richard Starry. With two degrees to his name and years of experience as a freelance illustrator, he put his considerable creativity towards providing his characters with a place to call their own. His cartoon universe, ‘World Of Pain’ was launched through a major exhibition in Tokyo in 2000.
This highly anticipated graphic novel ‘De Profundis’ follows a beaked artist who travels through a wilderness to arrive at an abandoned city. Wandering the empty streets there, he encounters a mysterious, priestly being who commissions him to decorate a temple to nameless gods.
