Considering wizard just had it’s Big Apple show just 2 weeks before the New England show, I was really surprised at how small this was in comparison. The number of guests and vendors was mediocre in comparison. I’m from Montreal, so it’s a 5 hour drive to go down to Boston. A group of 4 of us decided to go down on the last day of the show on sunday, we got htere around 12:00 p.m. It cost us $25 each to get in, and another $35 for parking. We were all disappointed in the overall set-up of the show. The show room itself was spartan in decoration, there was no presence of any media or industry personel. Artist alley was very small, there weren’t that many vendors selling stuff. Having attended the Fan Expo in Toronto, The Montreal Comic Con, and the New York Comic Con, this show was a complete diasppointment. I expected a lot more From a Wizard Con, considering the prices they were charging for admission. If your going to put on a show, and charge what you are charging then you should make sure that the fans get their money’s worth. WE sure didn’t. The only good thing about the small size of the convention (in scale and attendance) is that the guest that were there were very friendly and approachable. Lee Majors was an absolute dear, so soft spoken and very friendly. John Schneider was super nice. The buffy cast members were the main attraction, and it was a disappointment that charisma carpenter was only appearing on the Saturday. Overall this convention rated a 2 out of 10.
