Steve Scott Heading to Pittsburgh Comicon

Press Release:

Artist Steve Scott Steels Up for Pittsburgh Comicon, and Lots of Sketchin’!

Pittsburgh, PA– Artist Steve Scott is steeling up his sketching chops to a fine pencil point, and heading to the Pittsburgh Comicon this weekend–for his first appearance at the event–joining the fantastic list of guests and activities planned for the long-running show!

Steve’s art could be found in the recent popular Marvel series “X-Men Forever,” but you no doubt have seen the work of artist in a variety of projects including the hit TV show, “Smallville.”

Steve began his sequential art career at Malibu comics, with his fan-favored and memorable stint on “Razor” for London Night, followed up by work on “New Warriors,” “Hourman,” and “JLA” for Marvel and DC Comics.

Steve’s work has notably appeared in the pages of DC Comics “Shadowpact,” “The Creeper,” “Batman Legends of the Dark Knight,” and “Checkmate.” He got a particularly special kick out of bringing to life some of DC Comics strangest characters like Detective Chimp, Rex the Wonder Dog, Rag Man, The Phantom Stranger, and many others. Recent and current projects at Marvel Comics, and DC Comics include working with industry legends Louise Simonson and Chris Claremont on the titles “Magik” and “Exiles,” multiple issues of the Marvel Adventures line, “She-Hulk,” “Indiana Jones” for Dark Horse and a “Kyle XY” project for Disney/ABC with writer Jeff Parker.

In addition, Steve has the distinction of being the only artist to do comic tie-ins for the “Batman: The Dark Knight ” movie. He is one of the select artists whose work hangs in the personal gallery of director George Lucas, as well.

At this, his first appearance at the PCC, Steve will be debuting copies of his new sketchbook, “Steve Scott Sketches,” as well as doing original sketches at the show.

Taking place April 23-25th, The Pittsburgh Comicon is held every year at The New Monroeville Exposition Center connected to the Radisson Hotel Pittsburgh. At the Pittsburgh Comicon you’ll find a little bit of everything; Movies, Posters, Toys, Statues, Games, Anime, Manga, Sci-Fi and Fantasy, and of course Comics, lots and lots of comics, and the people who make them.

Joe Madureira to Attend Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con 2010

Joe Madureira is set to attend the Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con taking place June 11-13, 2010.

Via Wizard World:

Joe Madureira (often called Joe Mad), is a comic book writer/artist and game developer, best known for his work on Marvel Comics’ Uncanny X-Men and his creator-owned comic book Battle Chasers.

Madureira’s first published work was an eight-page story for the anthology series Marvel Comics Presents, starring Northstar. He became the regular penciler on Uncanny X-Men in 1994 illustrating that book’s installments of the “Age of Apocalypse” storyline.

He left Uncanny X-Men in 1997 to work on his own sword and sorcery series Battle Chasers for Wildstorm Comics’ creator-owned Cliffhanger imprint (before it was sold to DC Comics).

Madureira produced a total of nine issues in four years. He placed the series “on hold” after forming a game development company called Tri-Lunar with Tim Donley and Greg Peterson.

With Tri-Lunar, he created concept art on a game called Dragonkind which was canceled when Tri-Lunar went out of business. He then went to work for Realm Interactive, another start-up company, on Trade Wars: Dark Millennium. When Realm Interactive was acquired by NCsoft, he continued to contribute to the game as it evolved into Exarch, and was eventually released as Dungeon Runners.

Madureira returned to the comic book industry as the artist on Marvel’s The Ultimates 3, with writer Jeph Loeb. The second issue was published in January 2008, the third issue released on February 20, 2008. Ultimates 3 #4 came out on June 25, 2008.

In July 2007, Vigil Games’ Darksiders was announced, of which Joe Madureira was creative director. It follows War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, on his quest to find out who prematurely triggered the apocalypse. It was released on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 on January 5, 2010.

Joe has also provided cover artwork for Capcom’s Marvel Super Heroes for the Sega Saturn and Sony Playstation, and the Sony Playstation game Gekido: Urban Warriors.
