(New York, March 24, 2010) — Wizard Entertainment, the producer of North America’s largest tour of pop-culture events, will kick off its most ambitious tour to date with Toronto Comic Con, this coming weekend, March 26-28 at the Direct Energy Centre. This weekend will be the first of twelve shows, making Wizard’s Comic Con tour the only year-long series of pop-culture festivals for fans, exhibitors and brands across North America.
“Whether you are a fan of movies, television, toys, video games, action figures, comic books, sports, music or more, there is something at each of our events for everyone. This is an affordable weekend of fun for the whole family,” said Wizard Comic Con CEO Gareb Shamus. “By linking all these fun worlds together with a common theme, we will be able to expose brands to the largest audience possible for the first time. This is critical at a time when businesses are looking to interact with consumers in a very direct way. Our shows will provide a national consumer platform that has never existed before on a consistent basis.”
Brands ranging from Xbox, Ubisoft, Microsoft, THQ, EA Sports, Disney Interactive, and LEGO to Nintendo, Warner Bros. and THQ will all be participating and engaging the fans at stops throughout the 2010 Comic Con tour. The schedule, which will make its first U.S. stop at the Anaheim Convention center on April 16-18, will also give the movie and television industries a chance to market new releases targeted to major cities and times of the year, as well as providing toy and video game makers the ability to immerse their consumers in a very fan-friendly setting. The 2010 Comic Con tour will also present hundreds of popular celebrities to their fans at all stops, ranging from the original cast of Batman to Star Trek legend William Shatner as well as cast members from pop-culture classics like the SAW movie series, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, X-Men, Iron Man, Star Trek, Dark Knight, among many, many others. The appearances are in addition to the hundreds of national, regional and local comic book creators and vendors who will be on the show floor, as well as countless seminars and special appearances at each of the Comic Con stops.
