DC’s Art Director Conducts Portfolio Reviews at Boston Comic Con
Do you have what it takes to draw for DC Comics? Since its inception, attendees of the Boston Comic Con have asked the promoters to get editors from the big leagues to conduct portfolio reviews. At this year’s convention, Boston Comic Con delivers: Art Director of DC Comics Mark Chiarello will be on hand to do a limited number of art reviews!
A widely respected artist in his own right, Chiarello has worked for Marvel Comics, Dark Horse, Topps, Disney, and more in addition to DC. His work includes Batman/Houdini: The Devil’s Workshop, Star Wars: The Essential Chronology, and Heroes of the Negro Leagues. This year he was tapped as the cover artist of the Overstreet Price Guide.
As an editor Chiarello has spearheaded the high profile and critically-acclaimed series Solo, Batman: Black & White, and last summer’s Wednesday Comics. His responsibilities also include choosing the cover artist for every title DC publishes.
This is a rare opportunity for aspiring artists to show off their talent to the man who forms the visual image of the DC Universe. Don’t miss out! Tell your friends!
Mark Chiarello has agreed to three blocks of time on each day of the convention in which he will review portfolios. Only five artists can be guaranteed to be seen for each block so please arrive early to sign up; everyone else will have to take their chances waiting in line.
