Straczynski and Crain Guests at November LA Comic Book and Sci-Fi Con
October 23, 2009 by Brian Pate

Writer J. Michael Straczynski and Artist Clayton Crain are featured Guest Speakers at the Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention taking place Sunday, November 8, 2009. A 40th Anniversary Film Screening of the 1969 Science Fiction cult classic The Green Slime with stars Robert Horton and Luciana Paluzzi is another highlight of the show.
J. Michael Straczynski appears on stage at 2:00 P.M. to discuss his writing the Marvel Comic Book titles Thor, Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and The Twelve during the past few years, as well as his recent move to DC Comics to write The Brave and The Bold starting with issue#27. Joe is also a very busy screenwriter for Movies, writing last year’s The Changeling starring Angelina Jolie for which he received critical acclaim. Joe’s latest screenplay is for Ninja Assassin produced by the Wachowski Brothers (The Matrix, V for Vendetta) and opens in theaters in November. Joe is also known for creating the Babylon 5 TV Series. Find out what’s in development from one of Comic Books most popular Writers.
Clayton Crain is the Artist for the new Marvel Comic Book X-Force/New Mutants: Necrosha which starts an important storyline. Clayton’s popular painted style of art has been featured in Sensational Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, and X-Force (regular series). Clayton is flying into Los Angeles for this Special Exclusive West Coast appearance to sign autographs all day.
The 40th Anniversary Film Screening of The Green Slime with stars Robert Horton and Luciana Paluzzi appearing in person. A space station is invaded by tentacled green alien creatures, The Green Slime, that multiply when hit with laser guns. This all leads to the grand Outer Space battle as the crew suits up with flying jet packs to blow up the Space Station and The Green Slime. The Green Slime is considered a Science Fiction cult classic for it’s low budget Special Effects and wacky theme song, and it’s not to be confused with a Michael Bay production. Directed by Kinji Fukasaku who went on to critical acclaim for another cult Movie, Battle Royale. Luciana Paluzzi is also known for starring as Fiona Volpe, the henchwoman to Largo in the James Bond Movie Thunderball. The Green Slime screens on Film, not DVD, at 12:00 P.M. and Robert and Luciana will sign autographs from 11:00 A.M.-4:00 P.M. (there is a charge for the autograph but it includes a photo). A stage interview takes place at 1:30 P.M. with the stars to discuss the making of The Green Slime. There’s no charge for The Green Slime screening, it’s part of the regular admission.
The Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention also features a Dealers Room that puts to shame some shows that charge three times the admission, and it’s full of Old and New Comic Books, Toys, Action Figures, Trading Cards, DVD’s, Movie Memorabilia, and much more. Located at the Shrine Auditorium Expo Center, 700 West 32nd Street, across from USC College. Admission is only $8.00, five years and under are free. A full size Ninja Assassin Movie Poster will be given away free, check www.comicbookscifi.com for more information.
