Chris Giarusso and friends sign on Oct 24th

This is an All Ages Event that’ll be worth skipping soccer games, dance recitals, and Saturday morning cartoons. There’s a pretty good chance it will also go down in Greensboro history. For realsies!

We’re happy to have our buddy Chris Giarrusso (G-Man, Mini Marvels) return for a special release of the first ever Acme Comics exclusive variant, complete with 100% original cover art! Stay tuned for an advanced unveiling of the art over the next couple of weeks and months!

We’re also delighted to play host for the X-Babies #1 Release Party with writer Gregg Schigiel (Pix, SpongeBob Squarepants), who also serves as Stephen’s partner-in-crime on the RE: Comics! column here on Acme, and Eisner award-nominated artist Jacob Chabot (The Mighty Skullboy Army, Marvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular)!

Rounding things out are Eisner award-winner Art Baltazar (Tiny Titans, Patrick the Wolf Boy) and writer of one of the hottest independent sensations on the shelves today Brian Smith (Stuff of Legend, the Basics)!

Think we’re done? Gregg, Jacob, Brian, and Art ALL have back-up stories in the G-Man Cape Crisis mini series!

Edward James Olmos screens new film on Sept 26th

LOS ANGELES – Actor Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica, Blade Runner) makes a special appearance for the screening of the documentary short Dig Comics at Los Angeles’ premiere comic book store Meltdown Comics.

Also joining Olmos for a post-screening Q & A will be Miguel Cima, the writer/director/host of Dig Comics along with members of the cast and crew.

Both a love letter to the American art form of comics and a call to arms to increase the dwindling audience, Dig Comics has already won the attention of Edward James Olmos’ company Olmos Productions, which has agreed to produce a long-form full-length Dig Comics. Olmos believes that as a medium, comic books not only increase literacy but also serves as an inspirational learning tool for both students and teachers.

Dig Comics won Best Documentary at the San Diego Comic-Con International: Independent Film Festival, and has been selected for screenings at the Vancouver International Film Festival, the Tucson Film and Music Festival, and the Royal Flush Film Festival in New York City. It also recently screened at the Downtown Film Festival: Los Angeles.
